Playstation

Playstation was created by Sony in 1994 after Nintendo pulled out of a partnership deal. Sony decided to use CDs rather than cartridges allowing for larger games to be put on the console. It also gave third parties more favorable deals than Nintendo causing the Playstation to have a much larger game library than it's competition. Playstation would become the dominant console manufacturer until the release of the Playstation 3 which caused many third party developers to switch to Xbox. They would regain their dominace half way through the lifespan of the Playstation 3.

Playstation has remained the dominant console manufacturer for most of its history and up to the present day. Playstation's biggest competition is the Xbox which holds a large sway over the North American market. Playstation however has remained dominant in most markets outside of North America. Playstation has had trouble producing enough of its recent console, the Playstation 5, due to a chip shortage facing the entire industry.
