Carli was born on July 16, 1982 in Delran, New Jersey. This was where she grew up with her parents, Pamela and Stephan Lloyd, and her siblings, Stephan and Ashley.
Ever since the age of 5 Lloyd has played soccer. She was a high school athlete at Delran High School from 1997 to 2000. Her senior year of high school she scored 26 goals and had 8 assists. She was the captain of her team and led them to a record of 18-3. Also, in 1999 and 2000 she was named the girls’ High School Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
After high school she went to play soccer at Rutgers University from 2001 to 2004. This is where she got her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Sport Studies. During her four years she became the only person to earn First-Team All-Big East Honours four times in a row. Her freshman year and sophomore year she was the leading goal scorer. Her freshman year she was the first Rugsters player to earn Big East Rookie of the Year Honors. Then her sophomore year she was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy. Her junior year she was named a Big East Academic All-Star. Her final year she was named the 2004 Big East Midfielder of the Year. All of these accomplishments allowed her to be put in the Rugsters Hall of Distinguished Alumni in 2013.
On November 4, 2016 Lloyd got married to her high school sweetheart, Brian Hollins. Hollins is a professional golfer and a coach. During high school they were friends and neighbors. Then when they started dating 16 years later they got married.
