Commentary

All of the games I showed here, I think are pretty interesting. Most of them seem to have promising, fun gameplay. But, out of all of these games, the three I'm most excited for are the Breath of the Wild sequel, Minecraft Dungeons, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They all seem genuinely interesting and I'm really excited.

Breath of the Wild Sequel

I thought I'd start here because it's the only one I don't have anything but a small trailer to show for. I'm really putting some trust into Nintendo for this one. I really enjoyed the first game. The gameplay was like nothing I'd ever seen in the Legend of Zelda, which is one of my favorite game franchises. The story seems to be making a darker turn, and that's something I'm really excited for. The last game that was really dark was Majora's Mask. It was another one of my favorite games in the series. Something about the dark world with an imminent threat really gives weight behind the goal you're accomplishing. I can't wait to see more for this game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The second game I'm really excited for is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Animal Crossing is a series I've always been fond of. There's no huge conflict, but it's just relaxing. Something about being able to run your own town while also running around and hitting rocks for money is just so fun. With this one, it seems to give a lot more freedom to the player. You start on a completely deserted island and have to build up from there. The video above is from E3, where they showed off some of the basic gameplay. The sound design for this game sounds amazing, and I'm super excited. They talk about how they used a great deal of foley to be able to give more accurate sounds to walking. It overall just seems like an amazing game and it has me waiting on the edge of my seat.

Minecraft Dungeons

Minecraft Dungeons is the only game that wasn't directly announced by Nintendo at E3 that I'm excited for. It was announced at the Xbox panel, but I put it here because it is getting released on the Switch. It seems a lot like Diablo and I've been looking for a game like Diablo recently. I really enjoy the look of Minecraft Dungeons. It's the game that I grew up with, but in a new format. All of the same enemies and mobs are there, but now they each do something different. I've always dreamed of more combat in Minecraft since I was little, and now we're getting it. . . sorta. Yeah, it's a new game, but I think it'll be worth the 20-30 dollars. It's got multiplayer which is really cool, and I hope they do something to make multiplayer setup really easy. Overall, that's all I've got to say about it.

All of these games that I've listed are for the Nintendo Switch. You can read more about the specifics of the games on Nintendo's website or the websites of the games listed. I'll link them below.
