Interview: Mr. Baer By: Joe Irwin

Student teachers come and go from Monroe, but some stay in our hearts. In Mrs. Earley’s class this semester, Mr. Baer
is teaching social studies and psychology. I personally have known Mr. Baer for quite some time now, and I would have to say he is one of the most inspirational up-andcoming teachers yet. I recently just had a quick sitdown with Mr. Baer and asked him a few questions to find out more about his preferences, past, and future.

Q:So, Mr. Baer, where did you go for college?
A:Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Q:Where did you go to high school?
A:Fairfield. I played varsity soccer and played for an indoor team named the “Stingbears.”

Q:What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A:Normal things that any man would. Playing soccer, getting hair done, taking long walks along the beach, you know, the usual.

Q:What do you do here at Monroe?
A:I was the assistant soccer coach for the boys’ varsity soccer team, and I work with Young Life.

Q:Speaking of Monroe, what do you think of the facilities here?
A:I think that Monroe is a gorgeous environment to work in with a great faculty and students.

Q:Who is your favorite teacher here?
A:Mrs. Earley, she has been a pleasure to work with.

Q:When you get your teaching license, what would you like to teach?
A:I would love to teach American History and take Mr. Phillips’ job, just kidding.

Q:Why history?
A:I believe that history is most relevant to our daily lives than other subjects.

Q:Who is your favorite person in history?
A:Winston Churchill because he was a great leader and an inspiration to many different countries. Throughout my years of schooling I have always remembered one quote by him, “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.”

Q:If you could live in any time period, which would it be and why?
A:The 2050’s. I can’t even begin to imagine the technology that will be available to us. And I expect Joe Irwin and Cameron Tolliver to become the President and Vice President, and have me in the Cabinet.

Q:What is your favorite candy?
A:Snickers.

Q:What is your favorite kind of music?
A:Any sort or form of rock.

Q: Who’s your favorite band?
A:There are too many, and I’m too prideful to pick just one.

Q: Who’s your favorite student at Monroe?
A:Joe Irwin?
